Jak II, subtitled Jak II: Renegade in Europe, is the second installment in the Playstation exclusive Jak and Daxter series. Released on the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system on October 14, 2003, Jak II is the sequel to Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy and is followed by its sequel Jak 3 a year later. The technical timeline for the series means that Daxter is technically the prequel to this game. This story introduces a major use of the Zoomer, instead of using it to cross various areas.
Jak II is renowned for its large step up in difficulty from Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. It takes a much darker turn and follows a much more complex story than its predecessor. It is also noted for its age rating increase. These are mostly the reasons that the game charted so poorly in Japan, affecting future releases in that area.
